BOARD ATTENDANCE AT NATIONAL CONVENTIONS
Purpose: To provide guidelines for attendance at National Conventions.
Policy: Board members may attend a National Convention, on a rotating basis, once every four years provided that the Board member has complied with certain requirements established in this policy. The requirements include the following:
The Board member has attended at least one state convention and two IASB Meetings, or comparable workshops. No more than three Board members may attend a National Convention in any given year.
The District will pay the Board member’s convention registration, motel room, airfare, and meals for the convention. The Board member shall be responsible for all other expenses, including all expenses for a spouse or other family member(s) who may go on the trip. The Board member shall work with the Business Manager to secure competitive prices for airfare and for motel accommodations. The Board member shall be responsible for making a report on convention topics to the rest of the Board at the next Board work session following the convention.
