ADMINISTRATOR ATTENDANCE AT NATIONAL CONVENTIONS
Purpose: To provide guidelines for attendance at National Conventions by Principals.
Policy: Principals may attend a National Convention, from his/her respective National Organization, on a rotating basis, once every three years provided that the Principal has complied with certain requirements established in this policy. The requirements include the following:
The Principal has attended the State Administrator’s Convention and two other professional development workshops in the previous year. No more than one Principal may attend a national convention in any given year.
With pre-approval from the Superintendent, the District will pay the Principal’s convention registration, motel room, airfare, and meals for the convention. The Principal shall be responsible for all other expenses, including all expenses for a spouse or other family member(s) who may go on the trip. The Principal shall work with the Business Manager to secure competitive prices for airfare and for motel accommodations. The Principal shall be responsible for making a report on convention topics to the Board at the next Board work session following the convention.
