Anamosa Community School District is using sharing stations during meal times. The sharing station is meant to help eliminate hunger by encouraging students to “Take Some/Leave Some”. The first goal is to make sure there’s no hungry students at school. The second goal is to eliminate waste of good food that is being thrown away.
School Nutrition Programs that participate in the National School Lunch Program follow strict restrictions on the components of the meals being served, we are always encouraging students new foods. To keep students safe we restrict what can go onto the station, like unopened, prepackaged foods and unpeeled fruit. Perishable items like dairy items go in to chilled bin.
